Ignored by all but diehards, Stomp 442 found Anthrax in creative freefall, shackled to ideas that had ceased to be interesting years ago. Apparently, the band realized they were in dire straits – that's the only explanation for the ambitious cavalcade of sounds on Volume 8: The Threat Is Real, the follow-up to Stomp 442. Coming on the heels of Anthrax's blandest effort, the whirling array of styles on Volume 8 is welcome, but it also hides the fact that the group hasn't exactly bounced back from a songwriting slump that first reared its head on Sound of White Noise…

Although the 2004 double disc Unholy may appear to be an Overkill anthology, it is not. Rather, it's a U.K. import that compiles two releases in their entirety – 2002's Wrecking Everything: Live and 2003's Kill Box 13. Long one of thrash metal's top live acts, the veteran band sure does deliver on the first disc, as the intensity of such Overkill classics as "Necroshine," "I Hate," and "Overkill" get taken to the next level on a concert stage…

Because the band risked experimenting with some bold new directions on 1990's By Inheritance, the album usually gets a bad rap from grumpy thrash purists and even some Artillery fans. But, with the benefit of hindsight, Artillery's third album frequently sounds like their finest hour, as much for boasting some of the most distinctive and imaginative songs of their career as for incorporating textural variety at a time when many of the Danish quintet's contemporaries were wallowing in stagnation…

Official Live: 101 Proof hits most, but not quite all, of the high points of Pantera's career ("Psycho Holiday" and "Mouth for War" are two notable omissions), drawing most heavily from Vulgar Display of Power and Far Beyond Driven. There are also two new studio tracks tacked on to the end to entice the more casual fan who might find a live album redundant; however, Pantera's devoted fans will pick it up anyway, and they won't be disappointed…

The band and the Philadelphia-based producers Butcher Brothers produced the album, which includes the singles, "Fueled" and "Nothing". The album debuted at No. 47 on the Billboard 200 charts…

It was the first official album released since Cracked Brain in 1990, and the first with Schmier returning to vocals and bass since Release from Agony in 1988. It also marks the return of the band to a three-piece lineup…

This 70-minute concert recording from October 1991, issued after Anthrax had switched record labels, provides a good overview of the band's first seven years, including songs from the albums Spreading the Disease, Among the Living, State of Euphoria, Persistence of Time, and Attack of the Killer B's…

Thankfully, Pantera has stopped attempting to outdo each successive album in terms of start-to-finish intensity, but that doesn't mean they don't try in spots. The Great Southern Trendkill is burdened with passages in which Phil Anselmo's vocals cross the line into histrionics, making the band's trademark intensity sound dull, forced, and theatrical rather than sincere…

Anthrax's lineup had not yet solidified when they recorded their debut album, and neither had their style. Fans of the group's peak-period material are likely to find Fistful of Metal off-putting, as the band sounds more like a Judas Priest knockoff with rather silly, stereotypical heavy metal lyrics than the thrash innovators they would become…

3rd Album by the German Speed Metal Band. IRON ANGEL released two legendary album in the mid 80s. "Hellish Crossfire" and "Winds Of War". More than 30 years later the band is back. New line up, but old feelings. Dirk Schröder (vocals) is the only founding member left in the bad, but he and his new crew created an absolute killer album. Be prepared for some old school speed metal!
